Back to grassroots
Bring paintball back to its grassroots in Canterbury — affordable, welcoming and properly organised — and grow teams that compete at a good level, here and around New Zealand.
Why we exist
Paintball in Canterbury used to have a real scene — packed club days, local teams, people travelling to compete. Somewhere along the way it got expensive and scattered. We're here to bring it back.
That means making it cheap and easy to start, giving new players somewhere friendly to learn, and building teams that can go and compete at a good level — here, around New Zealand and beyond.
- Grassroots first — new players and juniors are the future of the sport
- Affordable — boxball, member rates, honest gear advice
- Competitive — structured training and real pathways to tournament play
- Member-run — an incorporated society, run by members for members
From first game to the big stage
A clear pathway, so nobody gets stuck at "had a go once".
Try it
Come to a club day. Safety briefing, hire gear if you need it, and games matched to your experience.
Join
Joining makes you a member: member rates, a say in how the club runs, and access to the members area.
Train
Drills, positions, comms and field walks with experienced players. Boxball keeps training affordable.
Compete
Get picked up by a club team — or start your own — and take it to local and national events.
Skill over spend
The biggest thing that stops people playing competitively is the cost of paint. Boxball fixes that: 3v3 matches of 30 minutes, and each team gets one box of 2,000 balls for the whole match. That's all you get.
Run out early and you're in trouble. So you play smart: pick your shots, move as a team, talk. It levels the field between new and experienced teams. And it's run as a weekly competition, like netball or touch: turn up, play one match, go home.
- Fixed, known cost every week
- Small teams (3 on the field, up to 4 players), so it's easy to get a team together
- Rewards accuracy, movement and communication
- Perfect stepping stone into full tournament speedball
An incorporated society
Christchurch Paintball Inc is a member-run incorporated society. Members elect the committee at the AGM, and the club's constitution sets out how decisions are made and how disputes are handled. Members can read the constitution, minutes and annual accounts in the members area.
Financial year ends 31 August.
